After completing her undergraduate education at Northwestern University with a focus in psychology, she went on to earn a Master of Social Work at New York University.
Since then, Whitney has become an adjunct lecturer at New York University, where she supervises masters students in the field. She continued her studies in various psychoanalytic settings including the William Alanson White Institute as well as the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.
